Health center earns JCAHO accreditation

The University Health Center has been awarded the highest recognition for health care organizations: accreditation with full compliance.
Following a two-day survey by the quality review organization, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the health center received a score of 98 out of 100.
The health center is surveyed every three years and has been accredited since the mid 1970s. The accreditation status, scope of services and quality of health care place the health center in the top 5 percent of college health centers nationwide.
Only 100 out of 1,700 college health centers nationwide choose to go through the accreditation process. UGA is the only college health center in the SEC to be accredited with full compliance by JCAHO.
Receiving a fully compliant accreditation with no areas of recommendation for improvement for three consecutive surveys is an unparalleled accomplishment for a college campus care facility, according to Jacquelyn S. Kinder, health center director.
This national achievement stands as a tribute to the quality of the health center staff and their commitment to provide the best possible care and services to the campus community, says Kinder.
The health center is staffed by 200 employees including 15 full-time physicians with board certification or board eligibility in internal medicine, family practice, psychiatry and gynecology. |
