Assistant editor position
Applications are now being accepted for the position of assistant editor of The Georgia Review, to begin July 1. Major responsibilities include the screening and evaluating of nonfiction, fiction and poetry manuscripts. An M.A. or M.F.A. degree is required. Extensive knowledge of all genres of modern and contemporary literature, of literary magazine publishing, and of critical approaches and theories, both past and present, is highly desirable: Word processing skills are necessary; other computer skills, especially desktop publishing and Web design, would be advantageous. Starting salary is $30,000-$36,000 annually, depending on qualifications. Postmark deadline for applications is April 15, 2002. Volunteer readers needed
Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic is seeking volunteers to record textbooks on tape. Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic is a part of the nations educational library for people who cannot effectively read standard print because of a visual, perceptual, or other disability. If you can contribute just 90 minutes a week on a regular basis, are interested in education, and like to read, consider volunteering. Those with expertise in math and science are especially needed. K-3 summer camp
The McPhaul Child and Family Development Center is planning an eight-week summer camp program for children who will be entering kindergarten through third grade in fall 2002. The camp will run weekdays June 3-July 26, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. No transportation will be provided. The cost is $110 a week, and a deposit of $110 is required. Enrollment will be done on a first come, first served basis. To enroll a child, come to the McPhaul Child and Family Development Center. For more information, call 542-4924.
Science Fair judges
More than 600 middle school and high school students will be participating in the 54th annual Georgia Science and Engineering Fair, scheduled for April 10-13 at Stegeman Coliseum. In addition to having their work judged by professional scientists, the students also participate in numerous departmental tours throughout campus.

UGA employees workshop
A free return-to-school workshop for UGA employees will be held April 4. Two sessions will be offered: the first from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Training and Development Center and the second from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education.
The workshop, designed for adults who are interested in beginning or continuing their college education, is sponsored by UGAs Adult and Nontraditional Student Educational Resources and Services (ANSERS) program.
The workshop will provide an overview of the ANSERS program and the pre-college courses it offers, as well as information about educational opportunities at UGA, including the new UGA Adult College, and other schools and colleges in the area. There will be time for individual consultations with ANSERS pre-admission advisers.

Gerontology convention
The Gerontology Center is now accepting registrations for the 13th annual Southeastern Regional Student Convention in Gerontology and Geriatrics, to be held at the Classic Center in Athens on April 12-13.
The keynote speaker is Justin Congdon, winner of the 2000 IPSEN Foundation Prize for Longevity Research. The convention will also include a pre-conference workshop, two symposia and a poster discussion session.
The registration fee is $25, which includes meals served during the convention. The registration deadline is March 30. To register, call the Gerontology Center at 542-3954 or visit the Web site at www.geron.uga.edu.
