Team-building eggs-cellence
 |
| Cameron McHale, a sophomore accounting major, prepares to drop her egg and parachute off of Sanford Bridge earlier this semester. Management information systems professor Mark Huber directed the project as a team-building exercise for students in his introductory MIS classes. Teams of 10-12 students built parachutes out of newspaper, a 5-ounce cup, tape, string and other household items to keep a single egg from breaking when it hit the ground. All teams used the same materials and had the same amount of time to construct the device. Huber had the students approach the assignment as if they were a shipping company, eggdrop.com, competing against UPS and Federal Express. The number of eggs broken determined the success rate of the business. Out of two classes, 30 of the 45 eggs were delivered successfully. (Photo by Chris Taylor) |
