Summer reserve materials
The deadline to submit materials to be placed on reserve at the main and science libraries for summer semester is May 6. Materials submitted by this date will be ready for use by the first day of classes. Materials received after this date will be processed as quickly as possible, in the order in which they were received. Reserve lists may also be submitted electronically (www.libs.uga.edu/maincirc/onlinereserve.html). For further information contact the main library at 542-0639 or mainresv@uga.edu or the science library at 452-4535 or sciresv@uga.edu.
Conflict mediation
Mediation of conflicts is available to the university community through the UGA Mediation Project. Mediation is a voluntary, informal alternative to adversarial proceedings such as grievances or litigation. The process allows people to resolve disputes for themselves in a mutually acceptable way with the assistance of neutral, third party mediators. The purpose of mediation is not to determine who wins and loses but rather to help parties reach their own practical, workable solutions to problems. Mediators are trained UGA faculty, staff and administrators. Mediation is totally voluntary and is available to all members of the university community.
Anyone interested in using the services of the Mediation Project should contact Art Leed in Legal Affairs (542-0006; aleed@uga.edu).
Exam conflicts
With the consent of the academic department, the individual faculty instructor has authority to manage students who have conflicts with the final examination schedule. A student with three final examinations scheduled within the same calendar day or two examinations at the same time may petition to reschedule one exam to a different time or day. If one of the conflicting final examinations is a mass exam, then it will be rescheduled.
Students are no longer required to go to the Office of Curriculum Systems to fill out the necessary paperwork to reschedule exams. The new procedure, which includes instructions and a form, is available online, at www.bulletin.uga.edu and at www.curriculumsystems.uga.edu.
For further information, call the Office of Curriculum Systems, 542-6358.

The Center for Tropical and Emerging Global Diseases will sponsor the 12th annual symposium on molecular parasitology and vector biology on May 3 at the Classic Center in downtown Athens.
