GTA/GLA orientation
Orientation for graduate teaching assistants and laboratory assistants will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 15 in north psychology-journalism auditorium.
All new graduate TAs and lab assistants who will have instructional responsibilities during 2002-03 are required to attend the orientation. They will learn about appropriate methods for teaching undergraduates and about instructional support systems available at the university. Returning GTAs and GLAs are encouraged to attend sessions of interest to them.

Gallery exhibit schedule
The Tate Student Center art gallery is now accepting applications for the 2002-03 exhibit schedule. Artists with local, regional or national reputations, including students, the general public, and both group and solo exhibitions, are encouraged to apply.
Applications are available at the Tate information desk and online (www.uga.edu/stuact/va.html). Completed applications, including eight-10 slides, résumé, artist statement and stamped envelope for return of slides, should be submitted in 153 Tate Student Center. The deadline is 5 p.m., May 31.
Selected artists will receive a small stipend, financial assistance for the opening reception, free advertising and invitations, and all commissions for works sold.

Pregnancy study subjects
Women in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy and between the ages of 18 and 40 are needed for a study in the department of exercise science aimed at better understanding the changes in physical activity and back function that occur during pregnancy.
Participants can receive gift certificates up to $50. For more information, call Melanie at 542-4138.
Regalia rental
July 12 is the deadline for academic regalia rental--for both faculty and students--for summer commencement (Aug. 10) and fall convocation (Aug. 18) at the University Bookstore.
WebCT workshops
The Office of Instructional Support and Development and Enterprise Information Technology Services will be offering a series of WebCT workshops during May and June.
The workshop schedule and registration information are posted on the WebCT homepage at webct.uga.edu. Click on Workshops, under Faculty Resources.
These workshops are offered at no cost to the participants, but registration is required because seating is limited. For more information, contact OISD at 542-1355 or at isd@uga.edu.
Legion Pool opens
Legion Pool will be open from May 22 to Aug. 24, 11:30 a.m.-7p.m.
The price of admission for faculty and staff is $2.50 per adult and $1.50 per child. A 25-visit pass may be purchased for $45 (equivalent to $1.80 per visit). Season passes are also available, for $70 per adult and $30 per child.

Social Work move
The administrative offices and staff of the School of Social Work have relocated to Mell Hall until July 29. The temporary move makes possible the cleaning, painting and carpeting of Tucker Hall.
During the relocation, the main phone number for the School of Social Work will remain 542-3644 and the deans office 542-5431. All other phone lines will be those in Mell Hall.
All mail should be directed to the School of Social Work, Mell Hall.
CCRC training courses
Annual training courses will be offered in June at the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center.
The course on analytical techniques for carbohydrate structure determination will be offered between June 10 and June 14. The course on separation and characterization of glycoconjugate oligosaccharides is scheduled for June 17-21.
The courses consist of hands-on laboratory work, lectures and demonstrations. Also included are modules on using mass spectrometry and/or NMR for analysis of glycoconjugates.
