Grant proposal guidelines
Guidelines for Learning Technologies Grant proposals are available on the Web site for Instructional Support and Development (www.oisd.uga.edu/about/index.html) or by calling 542-1355. The deadline for submission of proposals is Sept. 6.
Staff Council newsletter
The spring edition of the Staff Council newsletter, The Staff Voice, is now on line at the Staff Council Web site (www.uga.edu/ugasc/).
Conference registration
The health needs of Georgias growing Latino population will be the focus of the second annual Latino conference at UGA July 29-31. Marilyn Aguirre-Molina, professor of clinical public health at Columbia University, will give the keynote address. The cost for the conference is $150 before June 28 and $175 after. Postal rates change
Campus Mail Services reminds UGA departments and employees that U.S. postal rates will change on July 1. In general, all services and postage rates will increase. The basic new rates are: letters: 37 cents for one ounce or less, 60 cents for two ounces, 23 cents for each additional ounce; priority mail: $3.85 for weights below one pound, increasing for greater weight and more distant zones.
International rates are not affected, but probably will increase in January.
Departments that are interested in scheduling mailings before the rate change can call Campus Mail at 542-7031.
Personal training special
The department of recreational sports is offering special fees on the personal training program during the summer: four sessions, $75; six sessions, $120; nine sessions, $180; and 13 sessions, $240.
Those who purchase a package during June may bring a friend to one of the workout sessions.

Pregnancy study subjects
Women in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy and between the ages of 18 and 40 are needed for a study in the department of exercise science aimed at better understanding the changes in physical activity and back function that occur during pregnancy. Participants can receive gift certificates up to $50. For more details, call Melanie at 542-4138.
Academy registration
Community Education Programs at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education is registering students for the Summer Academy at UGA two-week adventure camp for rising sixth through 10th graders. Mother-infant study
The university is again looking for mothers and their first-born children, age 10-12 months, for a study on mother-infant interaction.
Participants will come to the McPhaul Center for two visits, about one hour each, in which they will play with their child in different episodes. For each visit, participants will receive $15.
At the end of the study, participants will receive a videotape of their childs participation in the study. For more information, call Natasha at 583-0031.
Regalia correction
The deadline remains July 12 for placing orders for academic regalia with the University Bookstore for summer commencement (Aug. 10) and fall convocation (Aug. 18). Faculty may rent regalia; students may purchase but not rent.
