BFSO elects officers for 2002-2003 academic year
Melanie Andrews, office manager in the Office of Legal Affairs, is the new president of the Black Faculty and Staff Organization.
Andrews, who has worked at the university for 20 years, was sworn in earlier this month. A BFSO member for approximately 13 years, Andrews was corresponding secretary of the organization for the past two years and had previously served as treasurer.
Among our goals for the upcoming year are community outreach, continued student mentoring and support, and addressing pertinent, current faculty and staff issues, says Andrews.
In addition to serving as BFSO president for the 2002-2003 academic year, Andrews also has been elected coordinator of Staff Council.
Other BFSO officers for the 2002-2003 academic year, who also serve as the groups executive committee, are vice president for faculty, Mary Frasier, professor, School of Professional Studies; vice president for staff, Curtis Byrd, educational program specialist, Graduate School; treasurer, Charlie Monroe, North Campus building supervisor; recording secretary, Margaret Turner, administrative secretary, deans office, College of Education; and corresponding secretary, Stephanie Reed, student affairs counselor, Terry College of Business.
