Campus employment fair
Student Employment Services is sponsoring the second annual Campus Employment Fair on Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in Georgia and Reception halls in the Tate Student Center. Interest in last years fair was high among students, many of whom were waiting in line when the fair opened in the morning.
Departments interested in participating must pay a $25 deposit, which is refunded if the department participates on the day of the fair. Each department may send two representatives to staff their information table, and the Career Center will provide boxed lunches for those reps.
The deadline for registering is Aug. 15. To sign up for the fair, or for more information, contact Ronnie Swoopes at 542-8829 or rswoopes@uga.edu.
Moving-in traffic
This year students will be moving into residence halls on Aug. 13 and 14, a Tuesday and Wednesday, rather than over a weekend, as in the past. Move-in days always generate heavy traffic along Lumpkin, Baxter, Hull, Finley and Church streets. The Hunker Down with Housing staff encourages faculty and staff to avoid those streets when students are moving in.
Fall membership drive
The Faculty of Engineering fall membership drive will be held Aug. 15 through Sept. 16. Membership in the Faculty of Engineering is open to UGA Faculty in all disciplines.
Applications will be accepted online at www.engineering.uga.edu. For more information, check the Web site or contact Brahm Verma (bverma@engr.uga.edu).
GMAT preparation
The American Language Program at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education is offering a semester-long class in preparing for the Graduate Management Admission Test. It is tailored to the needs of international students. The class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m., Aug. 20-Dec. 5. Tuition is $650.
To register, contact ALP (542-4095; 1280 South Lumpkin Street). For additional information, contact the instructor (Christine_Burgoyne@gactr.uga.edu; 542-6473).
Bulletin board is limited to announcements from campus-based organizations whose membership includes UGA faculty and/or staff.
