Three are named GUC undergraduate program directors

Directors have been named for the three new undergraduate degree programs being offered by the University of Georgia at the Gwinnett University Center starting this fall. The programs represent an expansion of UGA’s offerings in Gwinnett, which have previously included graduate degree programs and continuing education classes and certificate programs.
The new UGA undergraduate program directors are:
• Faye Chatman, director of the interdisciplinary studies/general science degree program offered by the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences;
• Elinor Greene, director of the instructional psychology, training and technology degree program offered by the College of Education; and
• Argy Russell, director of the general business degree program offered by the Terry College of Business.
Chatman has been with UGA since 1979 in a variety of teaching and administrative roles. She has extensive academic advising experience that includes working with adult learners and students for whom English is a second language. She holds a master’s degree in English from UGA.
Greene has been president of an Atlanta-based training and performance development company and served eight years as an adjunct faculty member in Georgia State University’s graduate program in human resource development. She will teach the instructional design classes in UGA’s B.S.Ed. program in Gwinnett. She holds master’s and doctoral degrees in instructional systems design from Florida State University.
Russell has more than 20 years’ experience in higher education, including serving as director of admissions for the M.B.A. and B.B.A. programs at Mercer University. She also has worked in admissions and academic assistance with the Robinson College of Business Administration at Georgia State. She holds a B.B.A. in marketing from the Terry College of Business and a master’s in career/organizational development from Georgia State University.
“All three of these new directors have extensive higher education experience, impeccable credentials and a high level of energy and commitment to UGA’s new programs at the Gwinnett University Center,” says Bob Boehmer, UGA’s senior administrator in Gwinnett. “These appointments clearly demonstrate the high priority given to these programs by UGA.”
Applications are now being accepted for spring semester for UGA at Gwinnett programs.
