Georgian heads Floridas board
Florida has chosen Daniel S. Papp as one of two officials to lead Floridas Board of Education division for four-year and community colleges.
Papp most recently was senior vice chancellor for academics and fiscal affairs at the University System of Georgia. In Florida, he will be chancellor of the Division of Colleges and Universities.
The Florida Board of Education will oversee every area of public education from elementary to graduate school as a result of the newly restructured education system the legislature put into action in May.
Kansas leave program a success
This summers unpaid leave program at the University of Kansas was such a success that university officials are extending it through the remainder of the fiscal year. The minimum leave period was reduced from two weeks to one week to encourage more employees to take advantage of the offer.
The money saved from the 32 employees who opted for leave is $40,289. Each unit that saved money from unpaid leave is able to use that money for other salary needs.
