Transfer programs
Some majors--such as linguistics--are offered at UGA but at no other institutions with the University System of Georgia. UGA has communicated with the chief academic officers at other system institutions about organizing transfer programs for these unique majors.
With such a transfer program, interested students will be able to take selected core-curriculum courses at the cooperating two- or four-year institution and then transfer directly into the major at UGA. Under the system's new core curriculum, transfer students would not otherwise be able to enter a unique major at UGA, since their institution will not offer the required Area F courses (courses in preparation for the major).
Several system institutions have expressed interest in possible transfer programs, and more are expected before the April deadline.
Entrance requirements for UGA majors, along with other details about next fall's move to semesters and the resulting curriculum changes, are available on the UGA Web site at bulletin.uga.edu/.
