Research subjects sought
Females of all races between the ages of 20 and 40 who are overweight by approximately 30 pounds or more are sought for a study on diet and exercise by Ellen Evans of the exercise science department. Participants must be free from any major disease, non-smokers and not pregnant or breast feeding.
The study will compare the effects of diet alone to diet plus exercise on the body composition of overweight women. Body composition will be measured using the most up-to-date technology available in body-composition research. Habitat volunteers
This spring, UGA Campus Habitat for Humanity will build its first ever UGA Habitat House. All faculty and staff who would like to participate in building should attend an informational session Feb. 27 at 4:30 in room 140 of the Tate Student Center. IBR seminars
The Institute for Behavioral Research will sponsor a seminar by P. Douglas McConatha of West Chester University on March 6 from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in 106 Barrow Hall. The seminar topic is "Control and Autonomy in Later Adulthood: A Case for Technology."
On March 10 at 3:30 p.m. in 106 Barrow Hall, IBR will sponsor the seminar "I Don't Know It But I Like You: The Effects of Non-Conscious Affect on Conversations" by Jennifer Monahan. For additional information, call 542-1806.
Moss application deadline
The deadline to submit application materials for Sarah H. Moss Fellowships is March 3. Available each fall, these fellowships are for advanced study in institutions abroad and in the United States. Certain restrictions apply.
The purpose of the fellowships, funded through a bequest from the estate of Sarah H. Moss, is to provide junior faculty members with a "broad outlook and acquaintance with conditions and standards in other parts of the world." Award nominations
Nomination materials are due March 20 for the Excellence in Teaching Award for Teaching Assistants and the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards.
Recipients of the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award are recognized at Honors Day and receive a certificate and letter of appreciation from the vice president for academic affairs. The Excellence in Teaching Award, given to up to five recipients, carries a monetary award of $1,000 from the Graduate School. It is presented at the Faculty Awards Banquet in June. Passport photos
Passport photos are taken in room 161 of the Georgia Center for Continuing Education every Wednesday from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Cost for the package of four photos is $8.95 plus tax. For more information, call 542-1840.
