Students demand weapons courses
A new study published in the Nonproliferation Review found there is more student demand for courses on the threat of weapons of mass destruction than are being offered by top universities. Researchers analyzed courses offered on weapons of mass destruction and their content at top national and public universities, as well as liberal arts colleges. The survey found many institutions approached the subject from a national-security perspective rather than a peace-studies perspective.
File sharing copyrighted music
The record industry won a legal battle that further supports its right to obtain the names of people who illegally file-share copyrighted music. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act requires a company to reveal the name of anyone they know infringes on copyrighted material. The record industry filed suit against Verizon Communications when they refused to turn over the name of a customer who downloaded more than 600 copyrighted songs. At the moment the record industry doesnt plan on pressuring colleges to reveal the identity of students who file-share copyrighted music.
