Academic regalia rental
Faculty may rent academic regalia at the University Bookstore for the April 23 Honors Day ceremony by a deadline of March 4 and for the May 10 Commencement by a deadline of March 27. Late fees apply to orders placed after the deadlines. Orders may be placed by phone at 542-3171 or by e-mail at sdf065@uga.edu.
Parents and Families grants
The UGA Parents and Families Association is accepting applications for grants from the UGA Parents and Families Fund for projects that benefit undergraduate education. Applications may come from departments, organizations or project coordinators. Although it is not possible to submit an application online, the form may be downloaded from the Parents and Families Web site: www.alumni.uga.edu/parents&families/. The site also contains information about the purpose of the association and about past recipients of grants from the fund.
Grant applications are reviewed by members of the Parents and Families Council, which looks for projects and programs that benefit a variety of undergraduate students. Projects may be funded in full, in part, or not at all.
Applicants are notified of the results as soon as possible following the spring meeting of the council. The amount of money available for Parents and Families Fund grants depends upon the contributions received during the fiscal year.
Bid procedure changes
Statewide procurement procedures have been changed to give prospective vendors more time to respond to invitations to bid on state projects, including university system projects. The new rules provide for differing minimums depending on bid value: 10 business days for contracts valued at $10,000-$50,000; 15 business days for $50,000.01-$99,999.99; 20 business days for $100,000-$249,999.99; and 30 business days for $250,000 and above plus all construction bids.
In addition, solicitations to bid must now be sent to a larger number of vendors. UGAs Procurement Office consequently requests that purchase requests valued at $5,000 or more be accompanied by a list of all known possible vendors.
Procurements valued at more than $100,000 will now be handled by the state purchasing office, which may well cause further delays.

CCRC training course
The Complex Carbohydrate Research Center will offer a course in mass spectrometry of glycoproteins on April 14-15. Lectures will include mapping the glycosylation sites in glycoproteins; determining the composition, sequencing and branching points of N- and O-linked oligosaccharides; and MS procedures used in these analyses. Demonstrations will include MALDI-MS, ESI-MS, FAB-MS and MS/MS experiments. Experience with MS is beneficial but is not required.
For more information and an application form contact Parastoo Azadi, CCRC (583-0629; azadi@ccrc.uga.edu).
Bulletin board is limited to announcements from campus-based organizations whose membership includes UGA faculty and/or staff.
