Modern Iraq and ancient Mesopotamia
http://www2.h-net.msu.edu/~museum/iraq.html

News reports from the war in Iraq often bring to mind reminders of early history lessons: the fertile crescent, between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, cradle of civilization. This site can help to answer questions about the effect on that history of the current military activity. It was developed by members of a professional group dealing with museums and is focused on the reminders of ancient civilizations within Iraq’s borders. Among the sites linked are the online library of Iraqi history at the University of Kansas and the resources for Near Eastern archaeology at Arizona State University.
