Alcohol, drug workshop
The university community is invited to a “Community-Campus-Student Leader’s Forum on Alcohol and Drug Issues” on Sept. 12. The workshop begins at 10 a.m. and runs through 3:30 p.m. in Georgia Hall of the Tate Student Center.
Sponsored by Student Affairs and featuring experts on alcohol and drug issues, the goal of the workshop is to develop a plan for reducing alcohol and drug problems in the community. Lunch will be provided for those who register (542-7774).
More information about the workshop can be found on the University Health Center Web site (www.uhs.uga.edu).

Chorus enrollment
Business and Community Programs is now accepting enrollment for the University of Georgia Chorus, a mixed-voice ensemble open to all UGA students, staff and faculty. Members receive instruction on vocal technique and ensemble singing and perform choral works from all periods, often with the UGA Symphony. Rehearsals are Mondays, 6:30-9 p.m., at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education. For more information or to register, call 542-3537 or visit www.gactr.uga.edu/bcp.

National Issues Forum
UGA student moderators from the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities and the Honors Program will participate in the National Issues Forum at the Carter Presidential Library moderated by executive director Jay Hakes on Sept. 6, 8 a.m.-5 p.m, at no charge.
The forum is a deliberative discussion model for considering national and international topics and ill-defined social issues.
Honors students who would be interested in attending should e-mail Catherine Packer, clpacker@aol.com. A UGA bus will leave the Tate Student Center at 8 a.m. and return by 5 p.m. Participants will be guests for lunch and a tour of the new Iran hostage exhibit at the Carter Library. Space is limited.

Virtual reality
Patrick Bordnick of the School of Social Work is looking for volunteers to help with a study of virtual reality and smoking. The project seeks to determine if persons addicted to nicotine will respond to the stimuli put into specific virtual reality environments--neutral rooms, a smoking paraphernalia room and a social situation in which people are smoking (such as a party). The research will assess physiologic changes in the users as well as their own subjective desire to smoke after each exposure.
Volunteers who smoke one pack a day or more, experience cigarette craving, are between the ages of 18 and 65, and are in good physical health should call (678) 407-5517. Participants will be paid.

UGACard office hours
University IDs are made at the UGACard office in room 320 in the Tate Student Center. Cost is $15. Photo identification must be provided.
Employees and dependents must be included in the appropriate database before the card can be made; students must complete OASIS registration first. Cards for dependents require submission of a request form at least five working days in advance.
The office is regularly open weekdays, 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. It will be open from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Sept. 6. The UGACard office also produces passport, immigration and résumé photos for $8 for a set of two.
For additional information, or to report lost or stolen cards, call 542-8549 or 542-8074.

Bulletin board is limited to announcements from campus-based organizations whose membership includes UGA faculty and/or staff.
