There Is No Finished World is the latest book of poetry published by Stephen Corey, associate editor of the Georgia Reivew, the universitys quarterly literary magazine.
In poems that are relentlessly introspective yet never trivial, Corey delves into human experience at its most potent moments and shows readers that the large questions are best considered within the context
of the most minute details.
It is evident that each poem in There Is No Finished World has been carefully and thoughtfully wrought, crafted by a gifted artist, says Pattiann Rogers. Stephen Corey has created the perfect music for his contemplative voice and penetrating observation. Whether in his short, succinct poems of spirit and wit or his longer poems of musing and memory, a subtle, celebratory tone is always present, an accompaniment, even in loss. The poems in this volume are both wonderfully discerning and great-hearted, a rare and welcome combination.
Coreys previous poetry collections include The Last Magician, Synchronized Swimming, All These Lands You Call One Country, Greatest Hits, 1980-2000 and five chapbooks. He has also co-edited three books. |
