Rebecca L. Macon, former executive director of enrollment services at the University of Northern Colorado, has been named registrar at the University of Georgia.
Macons appointment is effective Dec. 8, pending approval by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents. She will succeed Gary D. Moore, who is retiring from UGA Dec. 1 with 26 years of service. He has been UGAs registrar for the past five years.
The registrars office is responsible for registering students for classes, reporting their grades and maintaining their permanent academic records.
The office also oversees all enrollment data and handles enrollment certification, class schedule adjustments and transcript requests.
At the University of Northern Colorado, Macon was responsible for all enrollment services at the 11,000-student university, including admissions, student financial aid, registrar and records, career services, orientation and disability services.
She started a program to help increase enrollment and an early-alert program to identify students who needed personal or academic assistance. She also established an enrollment management council and oversaw the migration of responsibility for NCAA eligibility from the athletic department to enrollment services.
Previously she worked at the University of Wyoming, where she was registrar and interim dean of students. She was also executive director of program services in the College of Systems Sciences at the University of Denver.
Macon began her career at the University of Southern California, where she was assistant director and director of student affairs in the Institute of Safety and Systems Management. She earned a bachelors degree in elementary education from Grace College and a masters in education from the University of Southern California.
