UGA public relations
staff in several units on campus have been named winners of awards
by District III of the Council for the Advancement and Support of
Education. CASE is the national organization of public relations,
development, and alumni relations professionals; District III covers
the Southeast, from Virginia to Louisiana.
“The University of Georgia is lucky to have the support of
such creative and sophisticated public relations professionals in
units all over campus” says President Michael F. Adams. “These
are the people who tell the university’s story to the public
and all our off-campus audiences, and it is a pleasure to see their
good work recognized.”
The 2002 Annual Report produced by Research Communications in the
Office of the Vice President for Research won a Special Merit Award
for annual reports. Research Magazine, also produced by
Research Communications, also won a Special Merit Award. Kathleen
Cason and Judy Purdy of Research Communications received a Special
Merit Award for excellence in feature writing for a story called
“Unsentimental Biographer” that appeared in the magazine.
Around the Arch, the tabloid newspaper produced for UGA
alumni by the Public Affairs Office, received a Special Merit Award.
The editor is Allyson Mann and the designer is Charles Johnson.
William J. Evelyn of the broadcast, video and photography department
in the Office of Public Affairs won an Award of Excellence for a
video on the Georgia Museum of Natural History.
Education magazine, produced by Michael Childs and Charles
Connor of the College of Education’s Office of Communications
and Publications, earned an Award of Excellence for Magazine Publishing
Improvement. They also won an Award of Excellence for the college’s
news site on the Web, COE Online News.
Nancy Evelyn and Robert Newcomb, of the Georgia Center for Continuing
Education, won an Award of Excellence for Photography for feature
photos for “Virtual Reality in the Classroom.” |
