Information about summer programs offered by UGA units for

Biology symposium
The 14th Molecular Parasitology/Vector Biology Symposium,
sponsored by the Center for Tropical and Emerging Global Diseases,
will be held April 30 at the Classic Center. The symposium
is free but registration is required.
The deadline for registering is April 16. Registration information
is on the CTEGD Web site (www.ctegd.uga.edu).
The symposium will bring together regional faculty, staff
and students interested in various aspects of tropical disease
research. Participants are expected from many departments
within UGA, as well as from the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention, Emory University, the Medical College of Georgia,
Morehouse School of Medicine, Tuskegee University, Clemson
University and other regional colleges and universities.
The day-long symposium will include short talks, a catered
lunch, a poster session and a keynote address by Jim McKerrow
of the University of California, San Francisco, on “Meeting
the Challenge of Antiparasitic Drug Design.”
Legal justice symposium
Legal professionals, social workers, advocates and self-advocates
will learn strategies for achieving legal justice in both
civil and criminal courts for individuals with disabilities
in an April 20 symposium at the Gwinnett Center. Titled “Legal
Justice for Individuals with Disabilities Who Have Experienced
Violence or Abuse,” the symposium is sponsored by the
Institute on Human Development and Disability at UGA.
The symposium runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in rooms 2/3
AB of the Gwinnett Center at 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.

Academy registration
Business and Community Programs at the Georgia Center is now
accepting registrations for the Summer Academy at UGA, a camp
for 10-14 year olds.
SAUGA programs are divided into one and two-week long camps
of varying themes. Spaces are limited and registration is
required. The camps will operate June 1–July 23 from
8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with an extended-day pool option 3:30–5:30
p.m.
