Keep on streamin’
Streaming is a method for delivering audio and video over the
Internet. Because audio and video files can be very large, downloading
them to the computer can be time-consuming; files that are streamed
can be watched or listened to almost immediately.
The streaming service at UGA is a joint project of Enterprise Information
Technology Services and the Office of Instructional Support and
Development. The streaming media server is available for educational
uses to UGA units, faculty and staff at no cost.
This Web site explains the process and answers questions. One subsection
offers samples in QuickTime and RealPlayer formats, using an instructional
film from 1947. Faculty interested in using audio and video in their
courses should take a look. |
