Class instructors were UGA fire safety inspectors Michael Hodgson (right) and George McElhannon (center). Here they are working with Dale Alexander.
Connie Towe was one of the class participants from Physical Plant. Class members were instructed about fire hazards on the job and in the home.
Getting into the action
On Sept. 15, 48 UGA staff members attended fire safety and fire extinguisher training at the Facility for Incident Response and Safety Training on Will Hunter Road. They learned about the different classes of fire, about different types of fire extinguishers and about emergency reporting procedures. Then they went outside for the opportunity to fight an actual fire. The class will be taught again on Oct. 27; to sign up, call the Training and Development Department at 542-7062.
Physical plant employee Shirley Bates learned how to direct the force of the fire extinguisher.
