Budget reductions at a glance

Here is a thumbnail sketch of the potential impact of the latest round of proposed cuts in the state’s fiscal year 2005 budget, covering July 1, 2004, through June 30, 2005.

$179 million: proposed state budget reduction

$68.7 million: University System portion

$16.3 million: University of Georgia portion

$12.8 million: from UGA A-budget

$4.5 million (approximately): proposed 10% mid-year tuition increase

$5.2 million: draft proposed departmental reductions

$3.1 million (approximately): remainder to be identified

$3.5 million: from UGA B-budget
