A Sunday morning brunch was held backstage at the Classic Center before the showing of Casablanca. The band Audition with Max Reinhardt entertained the festival participants.
Louise Fletcher (right) discussed her Oscar-winning role as Nurse Ratched in the 1975 film One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest after the screening of the film.
Casablanca drew the largest crowd at the festival.
Schell spoke to the screenwriting class about his documentary about Marlene Dietrich. At the last minute, Dietrich had refused to be filmed, and Schell had to rely on footage of her previous films, news clips and audio interviews with the aging actress.
Robert Osborne selected the films for the festival and arranged for visiting artists, who spoke at the festival as well as in classes at UGA.
Robert Osborne (center, left), actress Jane Powell and actor-director Maximilian Schell visited the advanced screenwriting class taught by festival organizer Nate Kohn. Powell starred in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, one of the festival films.
During the festival, a rare 35mm print of Marlene, the documentary about Marlene Dietrich directed by Maximilian Schell, was shown.
