Administrator named director of UGA alumni career services

Courtney Gazlay, associate director of career services at UGA at Gwinnett, has been named director of alumni career services at the UGA Alumni Center in Buckhead.

Gazlay officially began her new role on Feb. 1. This newly created position, a collaborative effort between the UGA Career Center and the Alumni Association, will serve UGA’s ever-growing alumni population in the greater Atlanta area.

Gazlay will be responsible for providing career counseling and programming services to alumni, as well as working closely with employers seeking to recruit and hire UGA students and alumni.

“Courtney Gazlay is an energetic career services professional who will work collaboratively with alumni, faculty and employers to develop high-quality career services at the Alumni Center,” says Scott Williams, executive director of the UGA Career Center.

“In her previous role at UGA at Gwinnett, Gazlay catered to a nontraditional student body by offering unique and innovative career programming and services. She was responsible for cultivating employers and served as the liaison between the Alumni Association and the Career Center,” Williams also says. “Gazlay’s former role as director of alumni relations at her alma mater Florida Southern College made her a perfect choice for this new initiative.”

“The Alumni Association is pleased to expand career services to our Atlanta area alumni, and we are fortunate to have an outstanding professional in Courtney Gazlay,” says Deb -Dietzler, executive director of the UGA Alumni Association. “Her blend of alumni relations and career services experience make her uniquely qualified to provide the very best for our alumni.”

Gazlay earned a master of education in occupational studies from UGA and an undergraduate degree from Florida Southern College in mass communications.

She currently serves as the vice-president for colleges of the Georgia Association of Colleges and Employers and also sits on the steering committee for the inaugural statewide career fair. Gazlay has been active professionally as a member of the Southeastern Association of Colleges and Employers and the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.
