A group of visitors to campus takes one of the Visitors Center’s three daily tours. In 2004, the Visitors Center welcomed 21,348 guests to campus. Visitors Center staff also logged 22,332 phone calls from people wanting information about the university.
Alex Sims, a high school senior from New Orleans, rings the Chapel bell during a tour as (from left) Katy Mankin, her father Mike Mankin from Tennessee and tour guide Jeff Brown, a UGA senior from Augusta, watch.
Hailey Williams, a sophomore pre-real estate major, gives a recent tour group some history about the Chapel as high school senior Shannon Belser and her father Travis Belser from Fayette County listen.
Eric Sherman, a senior political science and Spanish major, points out places of interest on a map of the downtown Athens area to Susan Sim, a freelance writer visiting Athens for the day. In the background, Natalie Harris, assistant director of the Visitors Center, answers questions for (from left) Jasmin Abbyad, Sarah Dunn and Sarah’s mother Jenny Kottler. The trio from New Orleans were on a tour of campus. Both girls are seniors at McGehee High.
