Two degree programs begin this fall on UGA campus in Griffin
The board of regents has granted approval to the University of Georgia to begin offering two undergraduate majors on the UGA campus in Griffin.

Beginning in August 2005, UGA will offer a biological science major leading to a bachelor of science in agriculture degree and an environmental resource science major leading to a bachelor of science in environmental sciences degree.

Seven high school seniors in Georgia have been named “Promising Scholars” by the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities.

Gymnastics team wins its sixth national title
Members of UGA’s gymnastics team celebrate after winning their sixth national title late last month with a season-high score of 197.825 at the NCAA championship at Auburn.
The bus stops here
Beginning May 16, three bus routes will no longer circle Stegeman Coliseum. East–West, North–South and Family Housing buses will stop on the Carlton Street side of the Coliseum instead of Smith Street.
President will submit partners plan to board of regents, attorney general
The University Council overwhelmingly approved a proposal to allow domestic partners of university employees to receive “soft benefits,” but President Michael F. Adams said the plan must be okayed by state and University System officials before going into effect.
End of the line: Long-time admissions employee ends 30 years of ‘sympathetic listening’ at university
Brenda Greene has spent 30 years in the admissions office—most of that time as secretary to the admissions director. That’s put her right on the firing line for incoming phone calls from parents unhappy that their son or daughter did not get into UGA. Through the decades, Greene has been the patient, sympathetic listener on the other end of the line.
