Benefits enrollment period
The annual benefits enrollment period is scheduled for Oct. 3-Nov. 4. During this time, UGA employees and retirees may enroll, change or cancel coverage in the various insurance plans. Dental insurance coverage also may be decreased or cancelled. Annual enrollment packets were mailed to campus mail addresses during the week of Sept. 26. The packets contain Benefits News, detailed health plan information, 2006 premiums and other general benefits information. Employee benefits staff will conduct informational meetings in Athens and around the state. A schedule of these meetings is included in Benefits News and on the annual enrollment Web site.

To access the annual enrollment Web site (on or after Oct. 3), visit www.hr.uga.edu and click on the “Annual enrollment” link. Contact employee benefits by phone (542-1814) or e-mail (benefits@uga.edu) with questions.

WebCT 4.1 open house
Enterprise Information Technology Services and the Office of Instructional Support and Development will hold an open house Oct. 7 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in rooms 368 and 372 of the Student Learning Center. The open house is an opportunity to learn about upgrading to the new version of Course Tools 4.1.

For more information, contact George Matthews (gmatthew@uga.edu).

Additional annual leave
UGA employees received two extra days of annual leave when public schools in Georgia were closed Sept. 26-27 to conserve fuel.

The extra annual leave applies to employees who normally earn annual leave and will be added to the employee’s annual leave balance along with their leave accrual for the month of September.

The number of hours of extra annual leave to be received is dependent upon the employee’s percentage time of employment. A full-time employee will receive eight hours of extra annual leave for each day for a total of 16 hours. An employee working 75 percent time will receive six hours of extra annual leave each day for a total of 12 hours. Call employee records (542-4088) with questions.

Golf school
Staff at the UGA golf course are offering a discounted golf school for UGA faculty, staff and their spouses. The fee is $99, payable by cash or check. Classes will be held at the UGA practice facility from 5-6 p.m. on Oct. 10, Oct. 17, Oct. 24, Oct. 31, Nov. 7 and
Nov. 14.

Men and women of all playing abilities are welcome. The school includes six hours of PGA professional instruction with range balls. Sessions will focus on all areas of the golf game with a special emphasis on application of proper practice techniques to speed up the learning process. Video analysis will accompany the golf school; training aids will be used and provided. Golf clubs can be provided upon request.

The class is limited to six people. To sign up, call 369-5739.
