A sound solution

Louise Wehner (above) works as a radio host for a jazz show in New Orleans on station WWOZ. Or rather she used to. Since her home station in New Orleans was flooded by Hurricane Katrina last month, Wehner has been recording her program from the studios of WUGA on the UGA campus. Currently living with her five dogs in Monroe, Wehner comes to the WUGA studios to record her two-hour program each week. WUGA staff and facilities transfer the program digitally to the WWOZ Web site, which is offering continuing programming by way of streaming audio over the Internet. The WWOZ Web site is broadcasting “in exile” and can be found at www.wwoz.org/welcome.shtml. (Photo by Paul Efland)
