The teaching skill and dedication of five UGA faculty members will be recognized at this year's Faculty Recognition Banquet on May 27.
The Josiah Meigs Award for Excellence in Teaching, the university's highest teaching award, will go to Theodore Shifrin, Katharina Wilson, Thomas Ganschow, Hubert McAlexander and Frederick J. Stephenson. Meigs winners receive a permanent salary increase of $5,000 and a fund of $1,000 for departmental use. The award is named for Josiah Meigs, who was president (and sole professor) when the first students arrived at the university.
A limited number of tickets are still available for the banquet, which will be held at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education. For ticket information, call 542-5721.
