
Teaching workshop
The workshop will cover appropriate methods for teaching undergraduates and how to take advantage of the support systems available at the university for facilitating instruction.
All new graduate teaching and laboratory assistants with instructional responsibilities during the 1998-99 academic year are required to attend this workshop. This includes laboratory and teaching assistants as well as others with graduate classifications who serve as instructors. Returning GTAs or GLAs are encouraged to attend sessions of interest to them. For more information, call the Office of Instructional Support and Development, 542-1355.
5K run/walk
The Athletic Association presents the first Heroes to the Hedges 5K Run/Walk June 6. The event also will include a one-mile fun run. Starting and finishing on the bridge next to Sanford Stadium, the event course winds through the university past Stegeman Coliseum and Foley Field.
The entry fee is $15; race-day registration and packet pickup will be held at the Tate Student Center. Registration starts at 7 a.m. The one-mile fun run b 8 p.m. at the Tate Student Center.

Unique, colorful T-shirts will be given to participants as long as the supply lasts. "Hedge" awards will be presented to the overall male and female winners, overall masters male and female winners and the top three male/female finishers in the following age groups: 10 and younger, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-50, 55-59, 60-64, 70 and older. Award presentations will take place in Sanford Stadium at 10:15 a.m.

Georgia Review
The spring issue of the Georgia Review is now available from the UGA Bookstore, Barnett's Newsstand, Blue Moon Books and Book Peddlers.
Focusing on urban nature writing, the issue includes works by Emily Heistand, Judith Kitchen, Philip D. Beidler, William Stafford, Willa Rabinovitch, Gary Gildner and Marjorie Sandor. A selection of reviews covering new poetry collections, memoirs on illness and death, and critical studies of literary culture in America also are included. Michelle Wambaugh's "Exposed: The Performer Backstage" graces the cover and an interior portfolio of unusual color photographs of dancers in unposed moments before and after the curtain and lights go up.
