Faculty, staff campaign kicks off March 21
The Archway to Excellence Campaign continues to raise the level of excellence for all UGA students, faculty and staff, with alumni and friends already contributing more than $387 million toward the
$500 million goal. Now, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to enhance that level of excellence by contributing to the university’s largest fundraising effort.

Five selected as first service-learning fellows
Five faculty members have been named the university’s first Service-Learning Fellows. The group, selected for their interest in service-learning pedagogy and research, will meet regularly throughout the spring semester, with follow-up meetings planned next fall.
Significant gain: Financial newspaper ranks M.B.A. program 11th best public business school
UGA’s Terry College of Business was ranked as the 11th best public business school, 33rd best U.S. business school and 56th in the world by the 2006 Global M.B.A. rankings announced by the Financial Times of London.

New policy allows faculty to receive paychecks year-round
Starting this month faculty on nine-month contracts with UGA can choose to spread their payroll checks over the course of a year instead of the current 10-month method.
Council may suggest that freshmen attend substance abuse education program
The University Council will hear information at its Feb. 9 meeting about a possible plan to require first-year students to participate in a mandatory substance abuse education program. The meeting will be at 3:30 p.m. in room 300 of the Fine Arts Building.
Housing receives award for quality improvement
The Department of University Housing recently received a Commitment to Excellence Award for demonstrated dedication to continuous quality improvement.
