Dot Paul’s photo of teddy-bear surgery at the College of Veterinary Medicine’s open house won an award in the recent regional CASE competition.

University wins 13 regional awards for its education advancement efforts

UGA garnered a total of 13 accolades at the 2006 Council for the Advancement and Support of Education District III awards competition.

The Alumni Association won a grand award in the institutional relations project category for its entry entitled, “If I Only Knew Then. . . ”

Overall, UGA won five awards of excellence and seven special merit awards.

The broadcast, video and photography unit in public affairs won five awards. Photographer Nancy Evelyn won a pair of awards for pictures in the Archway to Excellence Campaign’s History and Traditions brochure and for a series on honors students. Dot Paul won a pair of awards for photographs of surgery on a teddy bear at the College of Veterinary Medicine open house (above) and the Chapel bell rope. Broadcast, video and photography’s Archway to Excellence Campaign video also won an Award of Excellence. Georgia Magazine, UGA’s alumni publication, had two winning entries, one an Award of Excellence in the category of alumni magazines II, and a Special Merit Award in the category of educational fundraising projects for its issue on the kickoff of the Archway to Excellence Campaign. The UGA Research Magazine won an Award of Excellence in the category of other magazines.

UGA’s Special Merit Awards included the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost in the category of media relations project; Grady College external affairs in the category of alumni magazine II; research communications in the category of illustration; and campaign communications in the category of design for print.

The awards were presented at the annual CASE District III Conference, held in Nashville, Tenn., Feb. 5-8.
