Dill named permanent associate VP for environmental safety
E. Wayne Dill has been named permanent associate vice president for environmental safety at UGA. Dill has held the position on an interim basis for the past year.

Hank Huckaby, senior vice president for finance and administration, announced that Dill was appointed permanent associate vice president effective March 1 pending approval by the board of regents this month.

“During the past year, Wayne has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills in managing environmental safety,” Huckaby says. “He has the vision and ability to guide this department to higher levels of achievement, and we are very pleased that he will continue in this important role.”

Before becoming interim associate vice president, Dill worked in UGA’s physical plant for 17 years and was director of services. He joined UGA after serving in the U.S. Army infantry for more than 26 years, retiring with the rank of colonel.

Dill graduated from North Georgia College and State University with a bachelor’s degree in business and received a master’s in business administration from UGA.

Environmental safety oversees a number of programs and activities that can affect the safety of UGA employees, students and visitors. The unit’s responsibilities include hazardous materials management; radiation safety; shipping and handling of biological materials; fire safety; laboratory safety; and such services as food sanitation inspection, swimming pool inspection and water quality consultation.
