Bauerle chosen as coach for U.S. Olympic swimming team
Jack Bauerle, head coach for UGA’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams, has been chosen as the head coach for the U.S. women’s swimming team for the 2008 Olympics. |
Forum will examine potential biosecurity challenges facing American universities
As a part of the university’s efforts to respond to potential bio-security threats against the U.S., the Biomedical and Health Sciences Institute and the Center for International Trade and Security will present “Biosecurity Threats: Opportunities and Challenges for U.S. Universities” on Sept. 20 at
2 p.m. in room H203 at the College of Veterinary Medicine. |
Foundation Fellow is first UGA student to win Hoover Scholarship
Douglas Jackson, a UGA Foundation Fellow and a 2006 Goldwater Scholar, received the J. Edgar Hoover Foundation Scientific Scholarship for the 2006–2007 academic year. He is the first UGA student to receive the $25,000 scholarship, which will support his graduate studies in analytical chemistry. |
Journalism technology expert will open Grady College lecture series
One of the nation’s leading experts on journalism and technology will speak at UGA on Sept. 20. Mindy McAdams, the University of Florida’s Knight Chair for Journalism Technologies and the Democratic Process, will speak on “Multi-Media Journalism Narratives” at 1 p.m. in Room 150 of the Student Learning Center. |
Former football coach remembered for his tenacity, motivation
Legendary football coach Erk Russell, who led UGA’s “Junkyard Dawgs” defense and built a small-college powerhouse of his own at Georgia Southern University, died Sept. 8 after an apparent stroke in Statesboro. He was 80. |

The New Faculty Tour reverses the usual flow of information at UGA. For five days each summer, 43 recently hired faculty and staff pile onto a bus for a statewide tour and find themselves on the learning end of the classroom. |
