PROFESSORSHIP CREATED FOR LATE CIVIL RIGHTS ATTORNEY
—Louise T. Hollowell (with roses), widow of Donald L. Hollowell, is recognized by (from left) Vernon Jordan, Cheryl Dozier and UGA President Michael F. Adams during a fundraising reception last month for the Donald L. Hollowell Professorship of Social Justice and Civil Rights Studies in UGA’s School of Social Work. Hollowell, who died in 2002, and New York attorney Constance Baker Motley, who died in 2005, led the legal team that in 1961 forced UGA to open its doors to its first African-American students, Charlayne Hunter and Hamilton Holmes. His law firm also handled scores of other civil rights cases, including several decided by the U.S. Supreme Court. (Photo by RIck O'Quinn)
