Georgia Children’s Chorus will sing in the holidays at its annual concert Dec. 12

The Georgia Children’s Chorus will present its annual holiday concert, “Catch the Spirit,” on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall. Tickets for the concert are $5 and may be purchased by contacting the Georgia Children’s Chorus at
(706) 542-8711 or gcc@uga.edu.

Directed by Carol Reeves, the concert will feature Erica McClellan as accompanist. “Catch the Spirit” will include familiar carols such as “Infant Holy,” “Snow Carol,” “Sleigh Ride” and a swing arrangement of “Jingle Bells,” all sung by the Concert Choir, Intermezzo Choir and Ensemble of the Georgia Children’s Chorus.

A self-supporting, nonprofit organization in residence at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music, the Georgia Children’s Chorus will resume the interview process for singers in early January. The chorus is open for boys and girls, ages 8-18, from Athens and Northeast Georgia. Members benefit from high quality choral training and performance opportunities. Goals of the Georgia Children’s Chorus include excellence in music, discipline and community spirit.

GCC currently serves children from nine counties in Northeast Georgia. The tuition-based program is significantly underwritten by fundraising efforts of the GCC board of directors. GCC is committed to diversity and multiculturalism with emphasis on representation from the entire community. Individual and corporate support enables the GCC to offer scholarship assistance to qualifying families. Interested singers should contact GCC for more information.
