Award-winning violinist Kristen Lee will perform in Ramsey Concert Hall
|
UGA’s Performing Arts Center presents award-winning violinist Kristin Lee (left) at 8 p.m. Jan. 13 in Ramsey Concert Hall. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Lee is a rising star in the classical music world and a protégé of famed violinist Itzhak Perlman. Tickets for the concert are $18 for the public and $9 for UGA students with a valid ID. A discount is available for groups.
Lee began studying violin at the age of 5 in her native Korea, and within just one year she won first prize at the prestigious Korea Times Violin Competition. In 1995, she moved to the U.S. to continue her musical studies and two years later entered the pre-college division of the Juilliard School of Music. After playing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with Juilliard’s Pre-College Symphony Orchestra, she was personally chosen by Perlman to become one of his students. Lee made her orchestral debut with Orchestra Atlanta at the age of 10. Since then, she has appeared as soloist with the Saint Louis Symphony, the New Jersey Symphony, the Albany (N.Y.) Symphony, the Westchester Philharmonic, the Ural Philharmonic of Russia and the Korea Broadcast Symphony.
