SPICY CLASS
—As part of the fall semester course “Herbs, Spices and Medicinal Plants,” approximately 300 undergraduates took part in “HerbFest,” a presentation of projects ranging from international food and drink items to homemade herbal medicine kits, natural-dyed sweaters, cosmetics and candles. Above: Jim Affolter, director of research at the State Botanical Garden and the horticulture professor who taught the course, and Katie Breakspear, curator of the herb and physic gardens at the State Botanical Garden, judge the final presentations.
