John Maltese, conference director and a political science professor in UGA’s School of Public and International Affairs, described the conference as “magical” in his wrap-up speech.

Mary and UGA President Michael F. Adams, Joan and Walter Mondale, and Rosalynn and Jimmy Carter enjoy one of the colorful stories told by panel participants.

The people attending the inaugural anniversary dinner joined in the applause for Hamilton Jordan, former Carter White House chief of staff and currently a member of the public service faculty of UGA’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government, along with Rosalynn and Jimmy Carter. Jordan was a driving force in developing the conference.
