Dennis Beresford |
Dennis Beresford, an accounting professor in the Terry College of Business, was among an inaugural group of five honorees inducted into the new Financial Executives International Hall of Fame.
The FEI Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who epitomize the performance, leadership and integrity of the most exemplary financial executives throughout their careers. The 25-person selection committee was composed chiefly of past FEI chairmen and presidents.
Stephen E. Condrey, senior public service associate with the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, is the new editor-in-chief of the Review
of Public Personnel Administration, a leading national public human resources journal. Condrey, who directs the institute’s human resource management technical assistance program, is an adjunct professor in the School of Public and International Affairs and immediate past chair of the Section on Personnel Administration and Labor Relations of the American Society for Public Administration. Condrey presently serves on the National Council of the American Society for Public Administration.

Dave Hartman |
Cross country coach Dave Hartman was named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s South Region Women’s Coach of the Year.
Hartman, who joined the UGA staff before the 2004 season, led his squad to its best finish in school history at the NCAA cross country championships. The team also won its first NCAA South regional title in November after topping second-place Florida 35-70. The team was the runner-up at the Southeastern Conference championships in October.
English professor Elissa R. Henken was recently selected as a Fellow by the American Folklore Society. Henken teaches folklore and Celtic studies; her published work includes two books on legends about medieval Welsh saints, as well as articles on Civil War legendry and developments in contemporary horror legends. The American Folklore Society, founded in 1888, is an association of researchers who collect and study the folklore of groups from all countries and times.
Melissa Shivers, director of the Intercultural Affairs Department, received the Bobby E. Leach Award from the Southern Association for College Student Affairs. She was honored for her work in promoting multiculturalism in student affairs. Shivers has served on several committees within SACSA, has been the multicultural issues committee chair and is programs chair of the upcoming 2007 conference.
The Georgia Arborist Association presented Kim D. Coder, professor of community forestry and tree health care in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, with the inaugural award for “Meritorious Contribution and Service in Arboriculture.”
The GAA is a professional organization that encourages and motivates arborists to further develop their skills and talents through education and training and join in the promotion of the industry and professionalism of the tree health care business. |
