Call for proposals
The Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach is accepting proposals until March 30 for the 2007–08 Scholarship of Engagement Grants program, a seed-grant program that supports domestic and international outreach by permanent, full-time public service, academic tenure-track or clinical faculty members.

‘Innovations’ kickoff
Computer science professor Suchendra Bhandarkar kicks off “Innovations at the Interface: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Engineering, Research and Society,” a monthly campus-wide event, with a talk entitled “The Role of Imaging in the Engineering of Complex Systems” at 4 p.m. March 22 in room 150 of the Student Learning Center. Junior golf camp
Two junior golf camps will be held at the UGA Golf Course this summer for children ages 4–17. The first camp will be held June 18–22; the second camp is July 9–13 from 8:30–11:30 a.m. each day. Space in both camps is limited. Call (706) 369-5739 for more information.
Alumni-employees breakfast
The Alumni Association’s ninth annual “Workin’ Like a Dawg” UGA Alumni-Employees Breakfast will be held April 4 from 7:30–9 a.m. in the banquet area of the Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center and Hotel.
All alumni-employees, including Cooperative Extension employees throughout the state, are invited to attend.
A continental breakfast will be served, and Years of Service pins will be issued immediately following the breakfast. Alumni Association members present will be eligible to participate in two grand prize drawings.
Invitations should be received by local alumni employees with an attached RSVP. To reserve a place, return the RSVP to the UGA Alumni Association by March 30 or call (706) 542-2251.
African Night
UGA’s African Student Union will host its annual African Night on March 23. The theme for this year’s show is “American Soil, African Roots, I’m Stuck in Transition.”
Doors open at 7 p.m., and tickets are $6 for students (in advance) and $8 at the door for all others.
African Night will feature different African dishes, dances, skits that have a comical edge but are serious in nature, a student guest speaker who will discuss her own personal experience with transitioning from Africa to America, and a fashion show.
