MIT is putting course material online
MIT is making its course material available via the Internet through its OpenCourseWare program, and according to The Chronicle of Higher Education, the material will soon be available in Chinese as well as English.

Lucifer Chu, a Taiwanese man who translates English science fiction novels into Chinese, has taken on the task of translating MIT’s online instructional materials.

The university has stated that all course material will be posted online in English by the end the year. At present, Chu has completed the translation of 178 courses with the help of four editors and many volunteers.

Princeton expands grad benefits
Princeton University has expanded one of its programs to include family-friendly benefits to graduate students, reports The Chronicle of Higher Education.

As a part of the program, Princeton will offer three months of paid leave to birth mothers and an extra semester to complete studies for primary caregivers, both male and female.

Other benefits, such as free counseling and need-based child care grants, are a part of the program.

According to the university, the program was created in hopes of attracting more women to careers in higher education.
