Research professor nominations
Nominations for Distinguished Research Professorships are due to
the appropriate dean no later than Sept. 28.
Up to five individuals may be appointed each year as Distinguished Research Professors. Each will receive a one-time permanent increase in base salary of $7,000 in addition to a $5,000 account each year for a period of five years to be used in any appropriate way to support scholarship.
The appointment of Distinguished Research Professor is intended to recognize outstanding research or other creative, scholarly accomplishments and to provide the impetus for continuing high achievement.

Learning in Retirement
The Learning in Retirement Group in this area starts fall semester activities Sept. 10 at the Holiday Inn Express (513 West Broad St.).
A half-hour information session
for new members and those interested in becoming members begins at
9:30 a.m. Registration will be held from 10–11:30 a.m.
Learning in Retirement offers
34 classes this semester ranging in length from one to five days. There also will be four lunch-and-learn sessions, four travel/study events, nine social events and several special interest groups.

Fitness programs offered
The Fitness Center is accepting new applications for participation in its Adult Fitness and Cardiac Rehabilitation programs.
Each week three one-hour cardiac rehabilitation exercise sessions (at
9:30 a.m., 2:45 p.m. and 4 p.m.) and three one-hour adult fitness exercise sessions (at 6:45 a.m., noon and
5:15 p.m.) are offered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in Room 101E of the Ramsey Student Center.
Both programs run year-long, the adult fitness program costs $30 per month and the cardiac rehabilitation program costs $35 per month. There is an additional initial entrance and fitness evaluation fee of $95. A physician’s referral is required prior to initial testing and stress test evaluation.

Research participants sought
The Maternal and Child Nutrition Research Laboratory is currently conducting studies to evaluate how the type of infant feeding affects body composition. Pregnant test subjects, both diabetic and non-diabetic, are needed.
Potential test subjects should be
at least 18 years old and in their third trimester. The study is open to mothers intending to formula feed and breastfeed their babies.
Mothers and their babies will be measured on a regular basis, including at 36 weeks gestation, two weeks,
one month, two months and three months after delivery.
Compensation includes $150 per week, and participants will also get a copy of both the anthropometric and body composition measurements and results.
