Position announcement
Applications and nominations are being accepted for the position of editor of The Georgia Review. The editor reports to the senior vice president for academic affairs and provost and works with a seven-member faculty editorial board and a group of advisory and contributing editors. The staff consists of six full-time employees and a half-time graduate research assistant.
Applications should include a letter, curriculum vita and a list of at least three professional references. Applications received by Oct. 26 will receive full consideration. Theater scripts, ideas
The department of theatre and film studies is currently in the process of selecting plays for the 2008-2009 University Theatre season and is looking for productions with the potential to attract national and international attention. New scripts and original ideas or concepts are being sought for a season that will reflect cultural and gender diversity. The department plans to include a media production and will consider a musical. Ideas may be submitted directly to Kristin Kundert-Gibbs, Chair, Season Selection Committee, Department of Theatre and Film Studies, Fine Arts Building, UGA, Athens, 30602-3154; or e-mail submissions (preferred) to kkundert@uga.edu. Lecture cancellation
The Willson Center’s Oct. 3 Humanities for Scientist Lecture by Francis Assaf in Romance languages has been cancelled. It will be rescheduled for spring semester.
Celebration Gala tickets
The Friends of the Georgia Museum of Natural History will hold Celebration Gala, their annual fundraiser, on Oct. 13. The gala opens with a silent auction at 6:30 p.m. that will be followed by dinner at 8 p.m. Black tie is optional. The event will be held at Trumps (247 E. Washington St.).
