Florida A&M University is ordered to pay $273,000 to 352 employees
After failing to accurately account for overtime work of 352 employees, Florida A&M University was ordered to make up for its error by paying $273,000 to the underpaid workers, the Associated Press reported.

The payment was ordered by the U.S. Department of Labor, whose fair labor standards were in dispute. A spokesperson for the university said the institution is now in full compliance with the department.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has placed Florida A&M on probation for at least six more months due to the problem.

Some Arizona State University students unable to prove legal status
Some students at Arizona State University will have to pay out-of-state tuition after failing to prove that they entered the U.S. legally, the East Valley Tribune, a newspaper in the metro Phoenix area, reported.

In compliance with Proposition 300, ASU assessed the status of its 46,217 enrolled residents and discovered that 207 of these students were unable to provide proof of their legal status.

Passed in 2006, Proposition 300 mandates that public colleges and universities ensure that students paying in-state tuition are either U.S. citizens or legal immigrants.
