Jazz band visits China

Under the direction of Steve Dancz (left), the UGA Jazz Band accompanied Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue to China for the opening of Georgia’s Economic Development Office in Beijing. Eighteen UGA students performed at the gala opening celebration, which was attended by the U.S. ambassador to China and numerous Chinese government, business and Olympic officials. The UGA students also participated in a program with Perdue at Tsinghua University, an educational institution in China. The group left Atlanta on March 31 and was due back in Athens April 5.
