UGA’s budget plans will evolve with state’s
The state’s economic situation is evolving, and with it, the state government’s plan to address an anticipated budget shortfall in the current fiscal year. As a result, the university’s plans are evolving, as well. The university responded July 18 to an initial request by University System officials for a 5 percent budget reduction plan by submitting plans at two levels: 3.5 percent and 5 percent. But in early August, based on July revenue receipts, state officials directed a 6 percent holdback, which is now being instituted as the situation develops further. With the state’s economic situation changing almost daily, the current plans as submitted are not necessarily the final response, and budget reduction plans of 6 percent and
8 percent for fiscal year 2010 have been requested. |
