• Carl Bergmann has been appointed assistant vice president for research in charge of facilities. He will be responsible for UGA research buildings and laboratories, equipment, repairs and renovations. Bergmann will continue as director of the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory in Aiken, S.C., a role that he assumed in 2007. He is also facilities director for UGA’s Complex Carbohydrate Research Center, where he has served since 1990.
• Tim Cearley, ticket operations manager for UGA’s Athletic Association since 2004, has been promoted to director of ticket operations. He oversees all facets of the ticket office, including ticket sales for football, basketball, baseball and gymnastics.
• J. Michael Floyd has been promoted to the position of executive director of food services. Previously the director of food services and head of the food services department, Floyd has worked in food services for 22 years.
• Randy Groomes has been named the Terry College of Business’ director of diversity relations and recruitment. Groomes had served in a similar capacity as director of multicultural programs for the UGA Alumni Association since 2005. Groomes succeeds Mark C. Dawkins, who was appointed associate dean for academic programs.
• April Sorrow, former editor of photography at MainStreet Newspapers, is now a public relations coordinator at the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
• Peggy Whitfield, human resources coordinator for the Athletic Association for the past seven years, has been promoted to director of human resources there. At UGA for 18 years, she manages all aspects of human resources for the athletic association, including payroll, employee benefits and training and development.
