Budget Forums
The university community is invited to join President Michael F. Adams at one of two forums on the UGA budget.

Work of art: Dedication set for new Lamar Dodd School of Art building
The new Lamar Dodd School of Art building on East Campus will be formally opened Sept. 4 in a dedication ceremony that honors the legacy of one of the South’s leading modern artists and art educators.
Regents budget $26.6 million for new libraries building
The budget approved Aug. 20 by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents includes $26.6 million for UGA’s Special Collections Libraries building, which will hold some of the university’s library’s most prized documents and materials.
Magazine ranks UGA among top 20 public universities
UGA is tied for 20th among public universities and tied for 58th overall according to the 2009 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges” guide. UGA has been ranked among the top 20 leading public universities in the nation eight of the past 10 years.
Team leaders named for two key SACS accreditation committees
Team leaders have been named for two key committees that will work on preparations for reaffirmation of UGA’s accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Grady College will hold second annual social media conference
Social media is on the minds and at the fingertips of public relations professionals and academicians, creating new opportunities and challenges for the practice of public relations. To address these issues and create dialogue, the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication will host its second “Connect: Social Media and Public Relations Conference” Sept. 19-20.
Math prof’s textbook wins national honor
A few years back, math professor Sybilla Beckmann went back to school—to the sixth grade. A noted scholar in such a difficult area as algebraic geometry, she had a sense that for elementary mathematics education things just didn’t add up.
